Friedrich Humboldt was born in 1767 and was not only a preeminent philosopher but also the founder of Humboldt University in Berlin. He was a good friend of Goethe as well as Schiller, and was an incredible German linguist who introduced the Basque language to European intellectuals.

This door has become famous in Ireland as being the door of Bloom's house in James Joyce's Ulysses.
