The streets of Bhuj in India are lined with cows. Hindus believe that cows are sacred and in several myths cows play an important role. Kamadhenu is a wish-fulfilling cow.

Gujarat has some of the most beautiful temples in India.

A cow comes for a visit in one of the many brightly colored house of Bhuj. On January 26, 2001, a devastating earthquake struck this city and many of the houses were leveled. Today, the original site of Bhuj and its buildings has been abandoned and the city has been rebuilt away from the fallen houses and devastation.

 

Throughout Bhuj as well as the rest of India, people ride by rickshaw.

The Vijay Vilas Palace was built in 1906 AD by Yuvraj Vijay Sinhji.

The Taj Mahal

Because the British colonized India in the 19th century some buildings have a British-Indian design in Bombay.

Bhuj is known by its beautiful Hindu temples, palaces and intricately carved wooden pavilions. It is a heaven for handicraft lovers. Here is a weaving house where weavers live who produce some of the most intricate and beautiful clothes in Gujarat.

An elephant ambles down the streets of Bhuj. It took over 1000 elephants to build the Taj Mahal.
